Google Maps is getting a new 2025 update that introduces numerous new features. The navigation app gets Gemini-powered intelligence, smarter recommendations, and new privacy control options. The update focuses on helping users make better decisions when choosing places, navigating through cities, and planning trips.
November 2025 Update for Google Maps brings Gemini, discovery tools, and EV smarter prediction
One of the major additions in the latest update is the new “know before you go” section in the listings. Whenever you search for public places like restaurants, venues, parks, or similar destinations, Maps will use Gemini to pull helpful information from reviews and online sources.
The insights provided by Gemini will include booking suggestions, parking instructions, hidden menu items, and other tips that are usually buried inside long review threads. The user can expand each tip for additional or detailed information. The feature is now available for US citizens on both Android and iOS platforms. Other regions will likely get the feature soon.
Another useful addition is the new “Explore” tab with a “Trending” section. Users can visit this page to explore up-to-date recommendations based on popular places around them. This particular feature will begin rolling out globally later this month.
Privacy updates and global EV charger predictions are included as well
Alongside the aforementioned features, Google Maps is adding a new feature that will predict the availability of the charging docks of a particular EV charging station. Users can check the availability before arriving at the station to better manage their time. This feature is launching next week on Android Auto and cars equipped with Google built-in, covering hundreds of thousands of charging locations worldwide.
Further, Google is also adding nicknames and profile photos for reviews. Users who don’t want their real name attached to feedback can now choose a custom display name. The reviews will still be tied to their Google Account in the background. Google says it will continue monitoring reviews for suspicious behavior or spam. This update is rolling out worldwide across Android, iOS, and desktop versions of Maps.
