Boat has entered the tracking device market with the launch of its new Boat Tag, a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) geo-tracking device designed for Android users. It boasts a one-year battery life and integrates with the Google Find My Device network, allowing users to easily track belongings like wallets, keys, and luggage.

The Boat Tag is priced at Rs 1,299 in India and is available in a single Black color. It can be purchased through Boat’s official website, Amazon, Flipkart, Blinkit, Swiggy, Instamart, Zepto, and select retail stores. The package includes an additional battery, a durable lanyard, and double-sided tape, and the product comes with a one-year warranty.

Boat Tag Specifications

The Boat Tag is equipped with an 80dB alarm to help locate misplaced items, even in noisy environments, though it only works within Bluetooth range. It supports semi-real-time tracking via Google’s Find My Device network, allowing users to track lost belongings and receive location updates and directions by marking items as ‘lost.’

Prioritizing user privacy, the Boat Tag offers unknown tracker alerts to quickly identify and address unauthorized tracking attempts. Weighing 30 grams and measuring 5x3x0.5cm, the device operates without a SIM card and features a user-replaceable battery with up to one year of battery life, according to the company.

For Android users, alternatives like JioTag and the recently launched JioTag Go offer Find My Device integration, while the JioTag Air variant is compatible with Apple’s Find My network, catering to different ecosystems. The Boat Tag seeks to address the gap in the Android tracker market by providing Find My Device integration at a competitive price. However, its reliance on Bluetooth limits its tracking capabilities compared to devices like AirTags and SmartTags, which feature Ultra-Wideband (UWB) support for more precise tracking.
